Heritage couldn't beat Centennial on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Coyotes lost 21-7 to the Titans.
Zoya Farooqui was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Peyton Abbott, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Emerson beat Liberty 9-6 on Tuesday.
Kylie Lenore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
At the plate, Emerson let Ellie Thurman and Gianna Lipsky run wild. Thurman went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Lipsky went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most runs Lipsky has posted since back in February. Alexis Maijala was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Emerson, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Heritage has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Emerson struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Heritage suffered a grim 24-4 defeat to Emerson in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Coyotes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
