Grace Academy and Calvary Christian Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Knights will face off against Calvary Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Grace Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Grace Academy was handed a 14-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Heritage Academy 11-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Jaeden Peterson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Ingram, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was AJ Presley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Grace Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 5-2 to Heritage Academy. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Calvary Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Grace Academy, their record is now 3-1.
Calvary Christian Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Grace Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. It's a different story for Calvary Christian Academy, though, as they've only averaged .286. Will they be able to contain Grace Academy's hitters?
Grace Academy skirted past Calvary Christian Academy 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
