The Gilmour Academy Lancers will square off against the St. Joseph Academy Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gilmour Academy has five straight wins, St. Joseph Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Gilmour Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on Saturday. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Lions. The game marked the Lancers' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Camden Dreiling was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Gundling, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Aiden Pike was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Gilmour Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy came up short against Medina on Tuesday, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the Jaguars have lost by exactly ten runs.
Amelia Reyes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Gilmour Academy's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.4 runs this season. As for St. Joseph Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gilmour Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like St. Joseph Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gilmour Academy took their win against St. Joseph Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3 score. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
