The biggest upset of the week belonged to Summit Academy, who took down 316th ranked Ford City, 20-14.
Burrell extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL AA Allegheny this week by beating Kittanning, 56-35. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Bucs.
East Allegheny's dynamic duo of Kyle Whipple and K.J. Marshall proved tough for Valley to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Whipple threw for 124 yards and one touchdown and Marshall had 93 yards receiving. Jaison Faulk helped East Allegheny's passing attack out by catching two balls for 18 yards.
Brendan Lynch was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 181 yards on 20 carries as Freeport fell to the Vikings. Teammate Damon Smith added to the ground attack by rushing for 73 yards.
East Allegheny's Whipple and Shawn Adair have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Whipple has thrown for 1025 yards this season, while Adair, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 19 catches for 459 yards. The Yellowjackets' Lynch leads the league in rushing yards with 485.
The top two teams in WPIAL AA Allegheny will face off this week when first place Burrell takes on second place Freeport. Burrell defeated the Wildcats last week, while Freeport beat Shady Side Academy.
The Kinghts were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Summit Academy defeated the Sabers 20-14 earlier in the week.
