The Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the St. Anthony's Friars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Archbishop Stepinac had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against Chaminade as Archbishop Stepinac made off with a 42-21 victory. 42 seems to be a good number for Archbishop Stepinac as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Will Currid looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 310 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahi Gary, who picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, St. Anthony's was fully in charge on Sunday, breezing past Holy Trinity 41-14 on the road. Given St. Anthony's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked first, while Holy Trinity is ranked 50th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop Stepinac's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for St. Anthony's, their win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
Archbishop Stepinac came up short against St. Anthony's when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 27-21. Can Archbishop Stepinac avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
