The Shepaug Valley Spartans will square off against the Coventry Patriots on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Shepaug Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Everything went their way against Cheney Tech as they made off with a 26-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Cameron Tisi was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Shepaug Valley got a massive performance out of Hayden Fisher, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Fisher has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Clare Moore, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Shepaug Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Coventry came tearing into two weeks ago's contest with five straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 16-3 victory.
Shepaug Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coventry, their record now sits at 2-0.
Shepaug Valley couldn't quite finish off Coventry when the teams last played back in June of 2023 and fell 2-0. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
