The Monterey Wildcats's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top against Midway by a score of 66-54. That 66-54 margin sets a new team best for Monterey this season.
Monterey found their leader in underclassman Aiden Roberson-Barber, who scored 28 points. The match was Roberson-Barber's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaxen Stephens, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Monterey's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Midway, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monterey will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Smith County at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Midway, they will head out on the road to face off against Anderson County at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Anderson County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Midway likes a good challenge.
