Pacific Lutheran added to the longest winning streak in 8-Man Freelance (8 Man) this week by beating Lutheran, 44-8. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Stingrays.
St. Michael's Prep led the league in scoring this week after putting up 70 points on Rolling Hills Prep.
Faith Baptist Academy's dynamic duo of Tim Peterson and Norman Cook proved tough for Trona to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Peterson threw for 239 yards and 5 touchdowns and Cook had 137 yards receiving. Nathan Patton helped Faith Baptist Academy's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 75 yards.
ANGEL AVINA provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Coast Union bested Cate. He completed 15 passes for 255 yards and 4 touchdowns and also ran for 140 yards. AVINA's favorite target this week was QUINTEN RATHKE, who caught 8 passes for 130 yards.
Coast Union's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Broncos feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. AVINA has thrown for 1,440 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while RATHKE has 34 catches for 764 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Orcutt Academy and Pacific Lutheran. The Spartans comes into the matchup ranked 20th in the state, while Gene Salas' team ranks 16th.
Enzo Stagnaro of the Orcutt Academy is just 51 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Stagnaro has rushed for 949 yards on 139 carries so far this year.
The Swordsmen made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 659 from 815. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 49-24 victory over the Tornadoes last week.
