Basketball Recap: Russell Drops Season-High Score on Ellis

Russell's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-47 win over the Ellis Railroaders. The Broncos' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Russell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Norah Mooney, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 21 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Mooney has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelvie Reeves, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten assists.

Mooney wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Russell was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Railroaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Natalee North, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Isabella Eck, who posted nine points and three steals.

Russell's record is now 4-7. As for Ellis, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Russell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-41 defeat against Thomas More Prep-Marian on the 25th. Ellis has also already played their next game, a 52-41 loss against Norton on the 25th.
