The Peniel Baptist Academy Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Trinity Christian Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Peniel Baptist Academy will bounce into Thursday's game after beating St. Johns Country Day, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Spartans on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won five matchups in a row.
Alexis Peacock made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Peacock was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Allison Peacock was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Traelyn Baker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Peniel Baptist Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity Christian Academy). They were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over Pine Ridge on Tuesday. The Eagles have beaten the Panthers the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Trinity Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Kay'La Jones, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Jones has posted since back in April of 2024. Leigha Winters was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Trinity Christian Academy pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 23.0 runs over those games. As for Peniel Baptist Academy, their record now sits at 13-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Peniel Baptist Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. However, it's not like Trinity Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Peniel Baptist Academy's way against Trinity Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March, as Peniel Baptist Academy made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
