The Wells Leopards and the Wendover Wildcats will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Wells unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 47-39 to Owyhee.
Meanwhile, Wendover lost to Rich on the road by a decisive 40-24 margin on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wendover in their matchups with Rich: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Wendover saw an underclassman step up: Millie Hicks scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds. Hicks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Paulina Gomez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Wells' loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Wendover, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.
Wells came up short against Wendover in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 44-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hicks, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Now that Wells knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
