Given McAllen's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 440th, while Valley View is ranked 1186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mario Villegas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with eight assists and four steals. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Rios, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
McAllen is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Valley View, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.
McAllen will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Rowe at 7:30 p.m. As for Valley View, they will head out on the road to face off against Pioneer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.6 points per game.
