The Kennedy Cougars are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Oakmont Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully Kennedy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
Last Monday, Kennedy was the victim of a rough 66-46 loss at the hands of Franklin. Kennedy has struggled against Franklin recently, as their matchup on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Kennedy had strong showings from Dondre Prothro, who scored ten points, and A. Young, who scored ten points. The match was Young's third in a row with at least ten points. Taylor Shirley was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Oakmont has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 27 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 92-65 victory over Valley Christian on the road. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Oakmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Kennedy came out on top in a nail-biter against Oakmont in their previous matchup back in December of 2017, sneaking past 53-50. Does Kennedy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oakmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
