It was a good run, but the La Canada Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell to South Pasadena 65-61. The game was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but La Canada was outscored by South Pasadena in the second.
South Pasadena was led to victory by Jack Madison and Derek Peterson. Madison scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Peterson scored 29 points. Peterson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Martinez, who scored seven points along with seven assists and three steals.
La Canada's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-10. As for South Pasadena, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Canada will take on Monrovia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monrovia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 906th, while La Canada is ranked 217th). As for South Pasadena, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Temple City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Temple City has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 201 points over their last three games.
