It was a good run, but the Troy Christian Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Newton Local 43-38. If Troy Christian hoped to take revenge for the 47-42 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the defeat, Troy Christian saw an underclassman step up: Karis Miller scored eight points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Reign Wilkins, who scored four points along with three steals.
Troy Christian now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Newton Local, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6.
Troy Christian will stay at home for another game and welcome Dayton Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. As for Newton Local, they will head out on the road to square off against Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
