The Quincy Blue Devils can now show off 15 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They breezed by Springfield Southeast on the road to the tune of 68-29. Given Quincy's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Springfield Southeast is ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Quincy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jada Brown, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Myley Longcor, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Marisa Gant and Rakiyah Coleman certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Gant scored seven points along with two steals, while Coleman scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Gant is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.
Even though they lost, Springfield Southeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quincy only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Quincy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Springfield Southeast, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-12.
Quincy will head out on the road to take on Geneseo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Geneseo is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Springfield Southeast, they will take on Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
