Forestview has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Burns Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Forestview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Last Friday, Forestview humbled Bessemer City with a 67-27 victory. Given Forestview's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Bessemer City is ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Forestview found their leader in underclassman Amani Neely, who scored 25 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. The matchup was Neely's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tralyn Phillips, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Even though Burns has not done well against Kings Mountain recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Everything went Burns' way against Kings Mountain as Burns made off with a 43-17 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Burns.
Forestview's loss dropped their record down to 4-1, while Bessemer City's bumped their own down to the opposite: 1-4.
Everything went Forestview's way against Burns when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Forestview made off with a 54-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Forestview since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
