The Lamar Thunder's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 35-26 to Manitou Springs. Despite 78 more yards than Manitou Springs, Lamar couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the loss, Lamar still got an impressive performance from Deyago Vasquez, who threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.4 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Austin Thacker, who picked up 130 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Manitou Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nate Gentzel, who threw for 167 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Logan Moore was another key contributor, gaining 149 total yards and a touchdown.
Lamar's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Berthoud and 8-1 La Junta (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75% over those games). As for Manitou Springs, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.
Lamar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Manitou Springs also has no future games currently scheduled.
