The Aptos Mariners will face off against the Westmont Warriors on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Aptos comes in on five and Westmont on three.
Aptos is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Ann Sobrato with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Mariners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.
Mya Najera-White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Fulton, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gwen Vaca, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Aptos hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Westmont sidestepped Mountain View for a 2-1 win.
Westmont also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Regan Steele gave up a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. Steele has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Westmont's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Melia Andrade, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Aptos pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Westmont, they now have a winning record of 15-14.
Aptos came out on top in a nail-biter against Westmont in their previous matchup back in March of 2016, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Mariners repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
