The Alhambra Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. Their rough 51-31 defeat to North might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Alhambra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while North is ranked 115th).
North found their leader in underclassman Xxylina Flores, who scored 25 points along with five steals. Flores hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Ayanna Goode, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and six assists.
Alhambra's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for North, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alhambra will take on Gila Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gila Ridge's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Alhambra's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for North, they will be playing at home against Chandler at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Chandler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
