Baseball Recap: Greenfield Has No Trouble Against Epiphany

Greenfield had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 29-run drubbing they dealt Epiphany on Tuesday. The Greenfield Knights were the clear victor by a 29-0 margin over the Epiphany Falcons. The match marked the Knights' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Zach McKenzie was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Greenfield: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Garrison Wester was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Mack Wiggins, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Greenfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Epiphany struck out 11 times.

Greenfield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Epiphany's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenfield will host New Life Camp at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Epiphany, they will welcome Arendell Parrott Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
