Rickards is 10-0 against Chiles since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Rickards Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Chiles Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. Rickards is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Last Saturday, Rickards strolled past Columbia with points to spare, taking the game 53-35. Given Rickards' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Columbia is ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rickards to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amirahs Hayes, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hayes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Journee Belcher, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post nine more assists than your opponent, a fact Chiles proved on Saturday. They managed a 48-43 win over FAMU DRS. The victory was just what Chiles needed coming off of a 68-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Chiles' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Faith Durden led the charge by scoring 17 points along with three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Durden has scored at least a third of Chiles' points. Another player making a difference was Macey Hartman, who scored eight points along with three steals and three blocks.
Rickards' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Chiles, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Rickards strolled past Chiles in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 55-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rickards since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
