There's no place like home for The El Modena Vanguards, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on Esperanza with a sharp 41-20 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for El Modena, who have now won three matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
El Modena was led to victory by Brodie Hitchens and Xzavior Guess. Hitchens rushed for 75 yards and three touchdowns, while Guess threw for 274 yards and two touchdowns while completing 82.1% of his passes. Deron Taylor was another key contributor, picking up 62 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Esperanza still got an impressive performance from Aaron Forsgren, who rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Forsgren is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played.
El Modena now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Esperanza, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
El Modena will head out on the road to face off against El Dorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games. As for Esperanza, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
