The Benjamin Russell Wildcats had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. They blew past Chilton County 63-39. Benjamin Russell has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.
Despite the defeat, Chilton County had strong showings from Justin Godwin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Cayden Meank, who scored 15 points. Godwin has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradin Yates, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Benjamin Russell's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points per game. As for Chilton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-16.
