III Section III recap September 10, 2013
Jeddediah Fagg and Nick Adamcik provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Mesquite. The connection went for 99 yards, the longest such play in III Section III this season.
McClintock moved up to 96 from 129 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Chargers were able to make move up by defeating Phoenix Christian 66-33.
Kyree King had an awesome week catching the football as McClintock bested the Cougars. He caught 6 passes for 229 yards.
Luke Rubenzer put up the best numbers through the air as Saguaro beat South Mountain. He finished with 14 completions for 340 yards and 5 touchdowns. Rubenzer's favorite target this week was J.T. Nettleton, who caught 5 passes for 173 yards.
Dominic Orona was a beast in the backfield as Matthew Lewis' team defeated Phoenix Christian.
Orona was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 229 yards on 14 carries as the Chargers beat Brandon Harris' team. Esteban Arteaga also contributed to the rushing game with 24 yards on the ground.
Kyron Cardwell was a key player and the best on defense this week as Higley bested Desert View. The 5-foot-11 player.
Orona was a passing and rushing force as McClintock beat the Cougars.
He went 14-16 with 0 interceptions.
King was the best wideout in III Section III this week as the Chargers defeated Phoenix Christian. Juwan Vinson helped McClintock's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 71 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Tyler Bloom and Ricky Marshall, the Knights have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Bloom is tops in the league in passing with 549 yards, while Marshall has rushed for 347 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is McClintock's King, with 289 yards on 8 catches.
Higley and the Jaguars played the closest game in the league this week, with Higley eventually emerging with a 42-39 victory. Marshall ran for 183 yards and caught 1 passes for 82 yards during the win.
