Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Paint Branch Panthers walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 42-0 victory over Northwestern at home. Paint Branch might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matches by 42 points or more this season.
Paint Branch found their leader in underclassman Vincent Do, who threw for 185 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Dinso Okafor also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.
The victory was the third in a row for Paint Branch, bringing their record for this year to 6-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Northwestern and 3-7 Blair (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30% over those games). As for Northwestern, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Paint Branch will be playing in front of their home fans against Bethesda-Chevy Chase at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Bethesda-Chevy Chase is ranked 92nd, while Paint Branch is ranked 83rd). Northwestern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
