Mariyon Sloan Turns in Season-Best Effort
Mariyon Sloan produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Shafter to the win on Thursday. Sloan rushed for 252 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 61 yards.
Kennedy had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Sloan it was a similar story. When Sloan last faced the Thunderbirds back in October of 2023, he picked up 119 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.

Hammie Lopez's rushing tear continued on Friday as he dropped his third-straight game with 174+ rushing yards. He rushed for 207 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 2.1 rushing touchdowns per game. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made four total tackles (2.0 for loss).
The win got Wasco back to even at 4-4. Lopez and Wasco will square off against Delano at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Jace Demacabalin continued his hot streak on Thursday by dropping his 11th-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least 119 rushing yards. He rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
If history really does repeat itself, Demacabalin might just drop another big game when he faces off against Taft on Friday. Demacabalin rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry the last time he and the Wildcats duked it out back in September of 2023.
