Big Island I recap Nov. 7, 2012
Kealakehe extended the longest winning streak in Big Island I this week by beating Hilo, 40-22. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Kealakehe took down the Vikings 40-22 last week, the largest margin of any game.
6-foot-1 quarterback Drew Kell of Hilo is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1144. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. On the ground, Sam Papali'i's team's Lennox Costales has rushed for 724 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Costales. The Kealakehe star has 32 catches for 478 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Kealakehe takes on second place Hilo. The Waveriders defeated David Baldwin's team last week, while David Baldwin's team lost to the Waveriders.
Kealakehe made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,268 from 3,432. The advance stemmed from a 40-22 victory over the Vikings last week.
