Last Tuesday, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech lost to Calumet Christian on the road by a decisive 57-42 margin.
Jermaine Bartlett put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 24 points along with four steals. That was a full 57.1% of Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Ridle, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Ellison didn't have too much trouble with Rauner at home on Friday as they won 62-48. Given Ellison's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Rauner is ranked 556th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hammond Academy of Science & Tech has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Ellison, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
