The Griswold Wolverines on the road again on Saturday and play against the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th.
Last Thursday, Griswold was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-41 to St. Bernard.
Meanwhile, Norwich Free Academy earned a 49-36 victory over Bacon Academy on Thursday.
Norwich Free Academy relied on the efforts of Nevaeh Yorke, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, and Emily Orcutt, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Yorke continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Brooke Stringer was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Griswold bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Norwich Free Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Griswold took a serious blow against Norwich Free Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2020, falling 65-25. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Griswold was down 37-15.
