Concord Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 9 on the offensive boards, a fact Concord Academy proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Northside Christian Academy by a score of 44-37.
Concord Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justice Alexander, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Alexander is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Samantha Meyers, who scored ten points along with four steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Metrolina Christian Academy strolled past Corvian Community with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 41-27. The win was just what Metrolina Christian Academy needed coming off of a 76-12 defeat in their prior game.
Concord Academy pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.67 points. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
Everything came up roses for Concord Academy against Metrolina Christian Academy in their previous meeting on January 2nd as the squad secured a 70-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Concord Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
