The Lower Richland Diamond Hornets lost against the Spring Valley Vikings back in December of 2015, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lower Richland fell to Spring Valley 44-39.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spring Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Temoney, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Temoney's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Burgess, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Lower Richland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Spring Valley, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lower Richland and Hammond will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hammond presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lower Richland in South Carolina (Hammond is ranked 31st, while Lower Richland is ranked 120th). Spring Valley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dutch Fork at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
