The McClain Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for McClain, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 36-21 loss to Minford. While losing is never fun, McClain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Minford is ranked 158th).
In what's become a running theme this season, Lynchburg-Clay gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They really took it to Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-32 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Lynchburg-Clay has posted against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington since January 17, 2019.
Jade Massey was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison West, who scored 21 points.
McClain's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Lynchburg-Clay, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
McClain couldn't quite finish off Lynchburg-Clay in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 42-40. Can McClain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
