Basketball Recap: Viewmont Beats Northridge for Their Third Straight Victory

Viewmont had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Northridge Knights by a score of 57-46. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 49-45 win the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Viewmont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mara Mickelson, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 24 points. The dominant performance gave Mickelson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Mary Carr, who posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Viewmont has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Northridge, they dropped their record down to 6-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Viewmont will welcome Bonneville at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Northridge, they will be playing at home against Woods Cross at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
