Christopher had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-11 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Oak Grove Eagles with a sharp 19-5 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
Audrina Cabanlit made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Christopher got a massive performance out of Melissa Lugo, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That's the most runs Lugo has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brianna Diaz Cruz, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Christopher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
As for Oak Grove, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly 14 runs.
On Oak Grove's side, Adeline Serrato was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those RBI were Serrato's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aolani Cortes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Christopher will take on rival Silver Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Oak Grove is set to square off against their familiar foe Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
