The Sparks Railroaders struggled with assists on Friday (the Battle Mountain Longhorns had 1200% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sparks was dealt a 69-32 defeat at the hands of Battle Mountain. Sparks was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-18.
Despite the loss, Sparks saw an underclassman step up: Eli Flores scored 12 points. The match was Flores' fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Battle Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Geovanni Ruvalcaba, who scored 9 points along with 9 assists and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Stuart, who scored 16 points.
Sparks' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Battle Mountain, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Sparks is on the road again on Saturday and play against Smith Valley at 9:30 a.m. on December 2nd. Smith Valley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Battle Mountain, they will face off against Mineral County at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Mineral County is ranked 68th, while Battle Mountain is ranked 53rd).
