Meanwhile, Robstown came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Fightin' Jerseys as they made off with an 11-2 win. The Cottonpickers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by nine runs or more this season.
Sophia Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Robstown let Yadi Rodriguez and Isabella Cruz run wild. Rodriguez got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Cruz got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Rodriguez has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Robstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2025.
San Diego's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Robstown, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
