The Dyersburg Trojans won the last time they faced the Dyer County Choctaws, and things went their way on Saturday too. Dyersburg came out on top against Dyer County by a score of 60-47. Given Dyersburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Dyer County is ranked 151st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dyersburg was led to victory by Chelby Jordan and Joya Crawford. Jordan scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Crawford scored 30 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Crawford has scored at least a third of Dyersburg's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalli Maclin, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Dyersburg is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Dyer County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dyersburg will take on Crockett County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dyer County, they will play host again and welcome South Gibson, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Gibson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
