Pierce City has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Bronaugh Wildcats at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Pierce City is ranked 368th, while Bronaugh is ranked 387th).
Pierce City suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. Their rough 60-40 defeat to College Heights Christian might stick with them for a while. Pierce City has struggled against College Heights Christian recently, as their game on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Bronaugh scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Greenfield 101-63 on the road. Bronaugh has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 31 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bronaugh to victory, but perhaps none more so than Strauss Banes, who almost dropped a triple-double on 39 points, 14 rebounds, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Banes has scored all season. Tucker Duncan was another key contributor, scoring 33 points along with four steals.
Pierce City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Bronaugh, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.
Everything went Pierce City's way against Bronaugh when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as Pierce City made off with a 58-33 win. Will Pierce City repeat their success, or does Bronaugh have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
