It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Clovis Cougars can now relate to. They fell just short of Liberty by a score of 33-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clovis in their matchups with Liberty: they've now lost six in a row.
Clovis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Deagan Rose, who threw for 287 yards and a touchdown, and Jacob Saldate who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown. Saldate has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more receiving yards the last three times he's played.
Cole O?Brien had an outrageously good game for Liberty as he threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per attempt. Davari Degraffenreid also helped out with an impressive 114 receiving yards.
Clovis' defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Liberty, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Clovis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against Central at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Central is ranked 37th, while Liberty is ranked 35th).
