Baseball Recap: Russell's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Russell entered their tilt with South Point on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Pointers with a sharp 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kyle Mokas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elijah Hankins, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Hayden McGuire was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Russell hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.

Russell pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for South Point, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-7.

Coming up, Russell will take on Fairview at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Point, they will face off against Dawson-Bryant at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Pointers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
