Benjamin Logan is 1-7 against Kenton Ridge since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Benjamin Logan has five wins , while Kenton Ridge has seven dating back to last season).
While Benjamin Logan's victory against North Union wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Raiders had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 10-9.
Meanwhile, Kenton Ridge's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Urbana a 35-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won four matches by more than 12 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kyanne Tyson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-6 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Brenna Fyffe was incredible, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-6. Another player making a difference was Lilly Foulk, who went 5-for-6 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles.
Kenton Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 35 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Kenton Ridge's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Benjamin Logan, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
