On Tuesday, the Organ Mountain Knights faced the Mayfield Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Organ Mountain managed a 47-43 win over Mayfield. The win made it back-to-back wins for Organ Mountain.
It was another big night for Caitlin Turnbow, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Helena Strawbridge, who scored six points along with two steals.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jazlene Ruiz, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Ceanna Mckines was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Organ Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Mayfield, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-4.
Organ Mountain will take on Gadsden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gadsden is coming into the matchup with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Organ Mountain will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Mayfield, they will square off against Las Cruces at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mayfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
