St. Joseph Regional hasn't had much luck against Bergen Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Green Knights will take on the Crusaders at 1:00 p.m. St. Joseph Regional's defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so Bergen Catholic's offense will have their work cut out for them.
St. Joseph Regional fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Don Bosco Prep last Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Ironmen by a score of 17-14. While the Green Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Ironmen 7-0 in the first quarter.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kyshawn Bryant, who rushed for 48 yards and one score, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. St. Joseph Regional also got help from Nathan Bailey, who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Bergen Catholic faced Delbarton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Crusaders claimed a resounding 42-7 win over the Green Wave. Considering the Crusaders have won four games by more than 26 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
St. Joseph Regional better keep an eye on Trey Tagliaferri. He was instrumental in Bergen Catholic's win, throwing for 331 yards and four TDs while picking up 16.6 yards per attempt. Those 331 passing yards gave Tagliaferri a new career-high. Austin Busso was another key receiver, picking up 103 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Bergen Catholic didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Delbarton to a completion percentage of just 46.7%. The team can thank Jordan Thomas for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bergen Catholic wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

The victory made it two in a row for Bergen Catholic and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.5 points over those games. As for St. Joseph Regional, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-2.
St. Joseph Regional came up short against Bergen Catholic in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 20-14. Can the Green Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
