After a string of four wins, the Alexandria Trojans's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pineville. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Alexandria of the 75-62 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Alexandria lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylin Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with two steals. Ashton Bobb was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Alexandria's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Pineville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3.
Alexandria won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carver Collegiate Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Carver Collegiate Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Alexandria likes a good challenge. As for Pineville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against St. Frederick at 7:00 p.m. St. Frederick will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Pineville is ranked 18th).
