There's no place like home for the Freer Buckaroos, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They managed a 40-35 victory over Agua Dulce on Tuesday. The victory was just what Freer needed coming off of a 47-27 defeat in their prior match.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Calvez, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Calvez scored a full 31.4% of Agua Dulce's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Alyssa Vinton was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Freer's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Agua Dulce, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Freer will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on La Villa at 6:15 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Agua Dulce and Falfurrias will round out the year against one another at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at. Falfurrias is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
