Even though the Oxford Pirates scored an imposing 67 points on Monday, the Quaboag Regional Cougars still came out on top. Quaboag Regional walked away with a 75-67 win over Oxford. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Quaboag Regional also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Oxford's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andruw Martinez , who scored 21 points. Brady Marqoupis was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Quaboag Regional's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Oxford, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quaboag Regional will challenge Uxbridge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oxford, they will head out on the road to face off against Assabet Valley RVT at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
