Basketball Recap: Grant Waters and Charlie Clark Secure Win for Archbishop Mcnicholas

Archbishop McNicholas got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 77-66 win over the Bishop Fenwick Falcons on Wednesday. This was payback for the Rockets, who suffered a 60-51 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading Archbishop McNicholas to victory were Charlie Clark and Grant Waters. Clark went 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds, while Waters posted 16 points. Waters' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrit Gunter, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

Archbishop McNicholas is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Bishop Fenwick, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Archbishop McNicholas and Bishop Fenwick could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Archbishop McNicholas (ranked 328th) will meet Archbishop Alter (ranked 111th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Bishop Fenwick (ranked 533rd) will meet Wyoming (ranked 21st) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
