It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Grapevine Faith Christian Lions can now relate to. They were dealt a 56-21 defeat at the hands of All S on Friday. Grapevine Faith Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.
Despite the loss, Grapevine Faith Christian still got an impressive performance from Clayton Sobecki, who rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns. Sobecki was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Nathan Tryggestad, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
All S got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelden Ryan out in front who rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 139 yards and a touchdown while completing 86.7% of his passes. Alijah Johnson and his 101 yards on the ground were also a key factor in All S's victory.
Grapevine Faith Christian's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 Legacy Christian Academy and 9-1 Grace Community (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.2% over those games). As for All S, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Grapevine Faith Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. All S will take on Legacy Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 18th. Legacy Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
