Emery/Weiner's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kelly Catholic. Emery/Weiner was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Kelly Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gates Jenkins out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jacob Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Emery/Weiner dropped their record down to 8-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Kelly Catholic, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-23.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emery/Weiner will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kelly Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Second Baptist's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 25 matches.
